Access Bangladesh Foundation, a leading resource organization in the field of disability arranged a six-day residential capacity building training programme on disability inclusive instructional methodologies, basics of Bangla sign language and JAWS Software for Principals, Vice-principals and instructors of Government and Non-government Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutes in different batches in December 2020 at CCDB HOPE Foundation, Ashulia, Savar, Dhaka. The training programme was arranged with a view to build capacity of TVET management staff and instructors on disability inclusion to increase enrollment of students with disabilities in the skills system. Albert Mollah, Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Arafat Sultana Lata and Vashkar Vhattacharjee facilitated the training sessions.
A total of 24 management staffs and instructors from 7 TVET institutes namely Bangladesh-Korea Technical Training Center, Gazipur Technical School & College, Sheikh Fozilatunnesa Mujib Mohila Technical Training Center, Narsingdi Govt. Technical School and College, Employment and Rehabilitation Centre for the Physically Handicapped, UCEP Gazipur Technical School and Akhtar Technical Institute participated in the training programme. This training programme was organized under ‘Inclusion Works’ project funded by UKaid and managed by Sightsavers which is being implemented in Dhaka, Gazipur and Narsingdi districts. The project works directly with the government, TVET institutes, Organizations of Persons with disabilities (OPDs), NGOs and prospective employers to demonstrate ways of including persons with disabilities systematically in the workplace on an equal basis with others. At the end of the training, all the participants were awarded certificate by the Country Director of Sightsavers Amrita Rejina Rozario.
